The Festival of Eventing 2025: When an Industry Came Together
Some events launch.
Others arrive.
In August 2025, the inaugural Festival of Eventing did exactly that — bringing together event professionals, innovators, creatives and industry leaders for two unforgettable days at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town.
More than 350 professionals from 10 countries across four continents stepped into what would become Africa’s only dedicated festival focused entirely on event execution and the future of the industry.
But the numbers only tell part of the story.
Because what unfolded was something far more powerful.
The Experience Began Before Arrival
For many delegates, the Festival didn’t start at registration.
It started in their inbox.
A personalised greeting from Mia — our Eventurer avatar created by BrandAvatar — welcomed attendees and built anticipation for what was to come.
A small detail.
A powerful signal.
This was not going to be an ordinary industry event.
Setting the Scene: Designed for Impact
The Century City Conference Centre delivered the perfect canvas.
Even Cape Town’s signature August rain couldn’t dilute the energy. From the moment guests arrived, there was a sense that something different was unfolding.
The bold Festival palette of pink and blue, brought to life by Concept G, set the tone.
Before delegates even reached registration, the experience had already begun.
Live performances, music and immersive stage moments – powered by Sound Stylists and Elegant Experience – transformed arrival into activation.
Phones came out.
Content was captured.
The buzz was immediate.
Registration, Reimagined
Then came a moment that shifted expectations.
Registration.
Delivered by Event Options, the experience felt seamless — but the real breakthrough was the introduction of facial recognition check-in, allowing delegates to register almost instantly.
No friction.
No queues.
No delays.
For an industry driven by innovation, it wasn’t just impressive.
It was a statement.
The future of eventing wasn’t being discussed.
It was being experienced.
Your Event, In Your Pocket
Once inside, the journey deepened through the event app powered by EventMobi and Participate.
This wasn’t just an agenda tool. It was an engagement engine.
Delegates accessed:
• the full programme
• interactive networking experiences
• gamification and quizzes
• curated prize draws
And the rewards elevated the experience even further — from Canal Walk vouchers and Le Creuset prizes to wine farm escapes and curated hospitality moments.
An Expo That Refused to Be Ordinary
The expo floor quickly became one of the Festival’s defining features.
No generic booths.
No tired branding.
No “business as usual.”
With GL Events as infrastructure partner, exhibitors were brought to life through immersive builds and experiential activations.
Delegates didn’t just walk the floor.
They explored it.
They could:
• find their event photos in real time using facial recognition
• sip coffee printed with their own face
• step into virtual environments
• engage in wellness and experiential activations
It was a masterclass in sensory, experience-led design.
Where Business Actually Happened
Amid the energy, something equally important was happening.
Business.
The Business Matchmaking Lounge, powered by Espresso Meet Up, facilitated hundreds of curated meetings between buyers, suppliers and partners.
This wasn’t passive networking.
It was intentional connection.
Ideas were exchanged.
Relationships were built.
Opportunities were unlocked.
A Stage Built for Real Conversation
The conference space delivered both impact and intimacy.
With production design by Multimedia and café-style seating by Inspire Rentals, the environment encouraged interaction, not observation.
This wasn’t about sitting back.
It was about leaning in.
And yes — there was even an Oprah-style moment, with delegates receiving curated swag bags courtesy of Promo One.
Content That Moved the Industry Forward
At its core, the Festival was always about the programme.
Across two days, 85 speakers explored themes shaping the future of eventing:
- technology and innovation
- sustainability and wellness
- experiential design and engagement
- leadership and industry growth
- operational excellence
Global voices met African insight.
And what emerged wasn’t just content.
It was conversation.
It was challenge.
It was momentum.
Entertainment as Experience, Not Interruption
At FOE, entertainment wasn’t filler.
It was intentional.
From live performers to surprise moments between sessions, every transition became part of the journey.
The experience never paused.
It evolved.
When an Industry Became a Community
And then, the most powerful element of all.
The people.
Across networking sessions, masterclasses, the Old Mutual luncheon and the Eventurers Soirée, something shifted.
Barriers dropped.
Conversations deepened.
Connections became meaningful.
This wasn’t networking.
This was community in motion.
Behind the Curtain
Every event professional knows the truth.
Creating something new is never seamless.
Behind the scenes were long nights, tough calls, unexpected challenges and moments of doubt.
But the industry showed up.
And that changed everything.
The feedback said it best:
“Festival of Eventing is going to be the event everyone adds to their calendar.”
“You ignited my soul.”
“The energy was electric — we’re building something bigger than events.”
To Those Who Made It Possible
To every partner, sponsor, exhibitor and supporter — thank you.
From technology innovators to creative agencies, infrastructure partners to media allies — this was a collective achievement.
You didn’t just support an event.
You helped build a platform.
This Was Only the Beginning
If 2025 proved anything, it’s this:
The African events industry is not waiting for the future.
It’s building it.
The Festival of Eventing returns on 29–30 September 2026 at The Canvas, Johannesburg.
Bigger. Bolder. More intentional.
And if you weren’t there in 2025…
Now you know what you missed.
